Boston Capital Finance (BCF) would like to announce the retirement of Don Phelan.  Don joined BCF in 2019 after Don first retired as a Managing Director at Barings (a MassMutual affiliate) in December 2018.  At Barings, Don managed the Affordable Housing operations of MassMutual, a position he held since 2001.  Don was responsible for the origination of new debt and equity affordable housing investments and the creation and external distribution of affordable housing products.  Don also held the position of President for the Affordable Housing Investor Council, a national organization comprised of institutional firms investing in the LIHTC space.

At BCF, Don was a key executive team member.  He assisted in our strategic vision and was a senior bond and loan originator with the firm. Don was a fixture at many industry conferences, namely the Ohio State Conference and Affordable Housing Finance Live national show hosted each year in Chicago.  Many of his clients are some of the largest not-for-profit developers in the country and affiliates of National Affordable Housing Trust. In his free time, Don is very active in the Connecticut Valley Porsche Club of America, is an avid traveler and enjoys skiing, hiking, and biking. Now fully retired, Don plans to continue and do all these things and more!
